Avvenu Photo Sharing Service Supports Photoshop Users

30 September 2005

Avvenu, Inc., today announced that its new remote access and photo sharing service supports Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 and the newly announced Photoshop Elements 4.0, Adobe's powerful, easy-to-use photo editing, sharing and organization tools for consumers. This integrated support lets Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements users share images directly from their collections, as well as remotely access these images from any web-enabled computer, laptop, PDA or mobile phone . Avvenu eliminates the inconvenience of uploading photos to a web-based photo service and large email attachments, making it extremely fast for sharing digital photos.

"Avvenu provides a powerful service for Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements customers who are clamoring for efficient photo sharing and remote access tools," said Keith Barraclough, Avvenu Founder and CEO. " Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements customers can use the Avvenu service to access their treasured collections from anywhere in the world and tap into powerful, user-friendly web communications for instant sharing of high resolution photos."

Adobe's free product, Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 for the novice digital camera user and Photoshop Elements 4.0 for the digital photography enthusiast, allow users to share their photos in slideshows, email, professional quality Kodak prints and hardbound photo books, as well as over TV home networks via video CD or DVD . Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements automatically organize photos by date or give consumers the option to categorize them with keyword tags that can be instantly applied to groups of related photos. Avvenu's support now lets users easily access and share photos remotely using these categories and tags.

"The popularity of digital cameras , camera phones and the rise in Web-connected mobile devices, means that consumers need a simplified way to access and share those images -- anytime, anywhere -- even while on vacation," said Deborah Whitman, vice president of product management for Digital Imaging at Adobe. "Adobe's software and Avvenu's simple yet flexible controls give our customers yet another way to get instant enjoyment out of their digital photos."

In addition to accessing their own content, Avvenu lets users instantly and securely share access to their content with friends, family and associates. Avvenu is different from other photo sharing services in that images are shared directly from the subscriber's computer. This means Avvenu subscribers maintain complete control of what pictures are shared, who has access to them and for how long. Avvenu subscribers can easily select which files or folders they want to share with others. Once the Avvenu subscriber has selected someone to share content with, an email notification with a link is sent to the guest that allows them to securely access just the selected image, file or folder. Guests do not need to be a member of the Avvenu service in order to view what has been shared with them. They just click on the link and are instantly viewing the shared content off of the subscriber's machine.

Avvenu is a free service available at www.avvenu.com. While Avvenu offers its service directly to consumers, the company is also working with major corporations to enable them to deliver this capability to their customers. Recently, Motorola announced it will release a service later this year based on Avvenu technology. The service will allow Motorola customers to easily view, save, and share photos between mobile phones and PC's.
