Waltham, MA (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) June 1, 2006 -- Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) presents an evening of photography, video and music that captures the spirit of Nigeria's booming film industry. The public is welcome to this complimentary event which takes place Friday, June 2, 2006 at 7 PM on CDIA's campus -- 274 Moody Street, Waltham MA.

CDIA's Franco Sacchi, Bob Caputo and Aimee Corrigan will present the opening of their upcoming documentary, «This is Nollywood», an inside look at Nigeria's booming film industry. Equipped with two Sony HDV cameras, the CDIA crew spent the month of October 2005 in Nigeria to cover the story of Nollywood through the personal tale of director Bond Emerua and his quest to shoot a feature-length film in less than nine days. In Lagos, Franco, Bob and Aimee interviewed top directors, producers and stars, visited several movie sets and captured an adventure that goes well beyond the making of a movie. Nollywood is one of the very few positive stories of modern Africa which, hopefully, will have a profound positive effect on the entire continent.

Director/Co-Producer Franco Sacchi is a freelance director/editor/producer. Franco co-directed, produced and edited «American Eunuchs», a feature length documentary aired in 2004 on the Sundance Channel and on Channel 5 in the UK and shown at several national and international film festivals, including the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam (IDFA). Franco collaborates on an ongoing basis with two news magazines of RAI International (the international branch of Italian Public Television) as a broadcast journalist/producer. Franco also worked for over six years in the Department of Educational Services at Avid Technology. Born in Zambia and raised in Italy, Franco graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna and earned an M.A. in Visual Arts from Emerson College.

Producer Robert Caputo is a Freelance Photographer/Writer/Producer. Robert started out working as a cine cameraman on location in Tanzania for TV series «Jane Goodall and the World of Animal Behavior.» He lived in Kenya from 1976-79 doing wildlife photography and as a photographic stringer for Time, Life and other magazines. Since 1980, Robert has been a regular contributor to National Geographic Magazine, crafting text and photos for numerous stories in the U.S., Africa, Asia and South America. Besides National Geographic, Robert's photos have appeared in Geo, Natural History, Outside, Audubon, New York Times Sunday Magazine, Scientific American and other magazines and books. Robert appeared in and wrote narration for National Geographic Explorer film Zaire River Journey. He also wrote the story for and was Associate Producer of the TNT Original film Glory & Honor that premiered March 1, 1998.

Still Photographer/Associate Producer Aimee Corrigan is a freelance Photographer and Practicum Manager at CDIA. Aimee's first photographic project, «The Village Heals», was presented at the University of Zimbabwe in 2001. Aimee has produced multi-media projects for several international organizations including Life is Good, Inc., Action for Southern Africa, Project Joy and The Panos Institute. Aimee has a BA in Philosophy with a minor in African Studies from Colorado College.
