Eagle Communications Deploys Moxi(TM) Media Center

15 November 2005

Eagle Communications today announced it has begun deploying the Moxi(TM) Media Center to customers in its corporate headquarters location of Hays, Kansas and the surrounding communities. Eagle Communications is the nation's seventh cable operator to deploy the Moxi Media Center, which has now been installed in more than 225,000 homes in roughly 80 markets across North America. "Eagle is an employee-owned company, which means we are accountable to our neighbors," said Gary Shorman, president and CEO of Eagle Communications. "The Moxi Media Center is a key part of our overall mission to deliver the best possible customer experience through advanced technology and superior customer service." Other cable operators that have deployed the Moxi Media Center are seeing reduced churn and greater take-rates for On-Demand content. In those markets where the Moxi Media Center is available, churn among DVR customers has decreased more than 40 percent, and On-Demand take-rates have grown to more than twice the industry average. "Eagle is the first cable operator in the region to offer a one-stop shop for cable, VoIP, Internet and wireless services to its subscribers, and we are delighted they are deploying the Moxi Media Center," said Bert Kolde, SVP of sales and marketing for Digeo. The Moxi Media Center is a television media center with an Emmy(R) award-winning user interface that delivers a full range of digital entertainment capabilities. It includes a dual-tuner HDTV digital video recorder (DVR), enabling the user to watch one channel while recording another, as well as pause and replay live TV. Viewers can quickly search for and select On Demand video content, watch DVDs and access instant weather, sports and news via an interactive information ticker. The Moxi Media Center also enables cable operators to offer subscribers other services including a wide selection of games, telephony applications, and management of digital photos and music. It recently won a second Emmy for its multi-room and advanced media center capabilities. More than 225,000 Moxi Media Centers have been deployed nationwide by Charter, Adelphia, BendBroadband, NewWave Communications, Sunflower Broadband, Service Electric Cablevision, and now, Eagle Communications. About Eagle Communications Eagle built its first cable TV system in 1966. Today Eagle owns and operates 23 radio stations in the states of Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. Eagle also owns six cable television systems in Kansas, which deploy services such as: digital cable, high-definition TV, digital video recorders and wireless in-home networking in many of its systems.
