Higher Gas Prices Driving More to Online Shopping According to New National Poll

24 November 2005

More than a third (34%) of shoppers surveyed in a national poll stated that they'll favor computer keys over car keys for their holiday shopping this year, due to significantly higher gas prices, while nearly three-fifths (57%) won't change their online shopping habits. According to the "PhotoFiddle.com Picture Poll," of 1,320 men and women surveyed to get a clear "picture" on shopping trends and attitudes, many of the respondents are saving their own time as well as gas. Nearly 18% said they shop during work hours on the bosses' time, while a large number (75%) save their shopping for after-work hours at home. Gift Cost Least Important/Kids Pix Most Important Apparently, creativity counts when it comes to gift-giving. More than a third (36%) claimed creativity was the most important aspect of a gift, followed by sentimental value (24%) and usefulness (22%). Interestingly, less than a fifth (18%) noted that cost was the most important gift component. Lastly, when asked who the person would most like to have a picture of on their desk, affections for the spouse and kids were split, almost down the middle, with the kids edging out spouses 47% vs. 42%. To conclude, 3% of the respondents claimed said they would rather have a picture of their family pet than the kids or the spouse. Perhaps their family was in the "doghouse" when they responded.
