Operation Iraqi Freedom: From Marine's Eyes

On Friday, November 4, a special Gallery show will begin in honor of Veteran's Day -- "Operation Iraqi Freedom," a photography exhibition at The Art Institute of New York City. The photography is the creative work of United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Christopher Reese of 4th Civil Affairs Group. The show will remain on display at The Art Institute of New York City until December 9, 2005. The exhibit contains a series of digital images that reflect SSgt. Reese's personal experience during six months of active duty in Iraq. Also on display are images taken by fellow Marines, including scenes of their daily lives. Visitors to the show will explore rarely seen images of the Iraqi people, cityscapes, and a unique portrayal of daily life and culture. The exhibit has also appeared in Tampa, San Diego, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and Miami. Christopher Reese is a faculty member at The Art Institute of Washington, a sister school of The Art Institute of New York City. In addition to Veteran's Day, November 11th is the 230th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps.
