P+S Technik SKATER Scope Boasts Versatility in Every Twist and Turn

27 April 2006

Las Vegas, Nev. (PRWEB) April 26, 2006 –- Through close collaboration with prominent directors of photography, world renowned cine equipment manufacturer P+S Technik, exclusively distributed in North and South America by ZGC, has developed the new SKATER Scope – the first truly compact periscope lens system. With a ground-breaking, revolutionary design, the SKATER Scope offers precision performance and unsurpassed creative flexibility.

Two versions of the SKATER Scope will be available, one featuring a 35mm/35mm PL mount for use with film cameras and lenses, and one featuring a B4/B4 mount, for use with standard 2/3» HD/SD video cameras and video lenses. Additionally, for shooters who wish to use the 35mm/35mm Scope with a 2/3» HD/SD video camera and lenses, P+S Technik will also be offering a conversion kit. Boasting a true aperture of T5.6, the SKATER Scope is optimized for Super35 format and for use with the most current lenses, including Cooke S4/i, Zeiss HS 1.3 and Arri/Zeiss Ultra Primes. The SKATER Scope's unique design virtually eliminates unwanted vibration or oscillation common with other snorkel lens systems and is considerably shorter and marked with clear operating controls, allowing the user to work quickly and intuitively.

For added versatility, the SKATER Scope offers full 360? optical image rotation without restriction and features a moveable tilt element that has an extended range of settings from -105? to +105? in 2.5? increments, providing two important functions in one unit. When used in a straight line, the SKATER Scope is a borescope and when tilted 90?, it can be used as a periscope. Image rotation can be used to level the horizon or to achieve «dutched» camera angles without altering the position of the camera. Additionally, a back focus adjustment ring is provided with a positive lock knob to secure its positioning, and the complete lens block can be pivoted with respect to the main snorkel body in any desired angle, and can be fixed with simple retaining ring.

The SKATER Scope is also the perfect compliment to the SKATER Mini Camera Dolly. When used together, shooters can set the lens height, tilt angle and lateral view quickly and in virtually any position. The SKATER Scope works flawlessly with a motion control unit as well.

It can adapt to the requirements of any motion control path for perfect shots and can capture rolling or flight-type movements with a focus motor instead of a bulky, mechanical roll axis. Because the flexible Scope is short, compact, and has great light transmission, its uses extend beyond table top and macro shots. For setups with limited space such as vehicles, the bent tilt module creates maximum space between the lens and the subject. Extremely low camera positions that were previously obtained with a low angle prism can now be done even with a wide angle lens. The SKATER Scope gives shooters a wide range of options in one, compact unit.

The SKATER Scope will be available later this year, June 2006.
