Puma Exploration: Two Massive Sulphide Lenses Intersected at the Shaft Zone

7 July 2006

The Company's press release of May 18, 2006, announced results of 714 g/t silver, 3.4% zinc, 6.6% lead and 1.73 g/t gold from a surface sample at the Shaft zone on the Nicholas-Denys property in New Brunswick. Puma Exploration (TSX VENTURE: PUM) is pleased to announce that the latest drilling has intersected two massive sulphide lenses instead of the one lens that was anticipated.

The mineralized Shaft zone, with an average thickness of 15 metres, is composed of two distinct metal-rich massive sulphide lenses with apparent thicknesses of six metres each. Four drill holes have intersected the mineralized zone at 22 metres, 43 metres, 93 metres and 170 metres of vertical depth. All zones remain open at depth.

The composition of the sulphides and the grades of the mineralized horizons vary between drill holes and also display variation related to depth. The variation in precious metals (gold and silver) compared to base metal values (zinc and lead) suggests a vertical zonation in mineral assemblages. At surface, high-grade layers with values of 714 g/t Ag, 1.73 g/t Au are encountered while drill hole samples return values of 6.0% Zn and 4.0% Pb over 2.4 metres. This zonation will be useful in targetting the source of the mineralization as well as assisting in the location of higher grade mineralization.

This drilling indicates that the Shaft Zone mineralization persists to a vertical depth of 170 metres. Interpretation of an Induced Polarization (IP) survey carried out over the Shaft Zone suggests that the mineralized horizon extends to a vertical depth of at least 400 metres.

"The target horizon containing mineralized lenses has been established over a strike length of more than 5.4 kms and contains at least 5 mineralized deposits. Only three of these deposits have been explored by drilling. Puma is currently carrying out a drill program to investigate the Henry deposit, located 2.2 kms to the west of the Shaft and Hache lenses. The Henry deposits was explored during the 1960's by means of underground mine development but never entered commercial production" according to Marcel Robillard, the geologist managing the Nicholas-Denys project.

The Nicholas-Denys property is located only 25 kms north of the Brunswick 12 mine where a zinc, lead and precious metal concentrator has been in operation for over 50 years ; and 25 kms east of the Caribou mine where Blue Note Metals is finalizing arrangements to re-open the mine to extract and process ore that is comparable to the mineralization encountered in the Shaft and Hache lenses.

Assays were performed by ALS Chemex in Val d'Or, using atomic absorption and ICP. The contents of this press release were prepared by Marcel Robillard, Geologist and NI-43-101 Qualified Person. The TSX Venture Exchange has not reviewed and does not accept responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this release.
