Ricoh to Host Electronics Recycling Day for Employees15 November 2005
Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, announced today it will host a "One Day Employee Electronics Recycle Program" on Tuesday, November 15th. Ricoh supports the America Recycles Day mission to get everyone to recycle as "almost everything can be recycled except the planet." Employees at all Ricoh New Jersey facilities in Pine Brook, Fairfield and West Caldwell will be participating in the Ricoh program. Ricoh, a recognized leader in environmental conservation and a charter member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program, will set up collection sites at its facilities for employees to drop off unwanted computers, keyboards, televisions, modems, fax machines, printers, scanners, handheld games, telephones, cell phones, cameras, pagers, VCRs, tape decks, CD players, movie projectors, tape recorders, radios, and other electronic products. All of the equipment that is collected will be sent to a de-manufacturer to be processed, reduced, separated and recycled for use in such items as noise panels, asphalt, retread tires, concrete and insulations. "Ricoh continues to pave the way in creating environmentally friendly products that reduce ozone layer depletion, global warming and toxic waste and are Energy Star compliant," said Sam Ichioka, chairman & CEO of Ricoh Corporation. "The preservation and protection of the environment is critical to Ricoh and is top of mind in the development of all of our products, as we not only seek to give back to our customers and employees, but to the earth as well." America Recycles Day is a national program that started nine years ago to promote public awareness and participation in recycling. It is a partnership between private industry, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, among other organizations. The program is designed to save natural resources, energy, clean air and water. Additionally, it is designed to save money and create jobs in the recycling and waste management sector. The goal of America Recycles Day is to encourage environmental responsibility and to "Make Every Day America Recycles Day."
