Sony debuts high-zoom Cyber-shot DSC-H1 digital camera24 February 2005
Sony of Canada Ltd., Canada's leading supplier of electronic and computer products for consumers and business, today unveiled the new Cyber-shot(R) DSC-H1 digital camera, featuring a 5-megapixel, Super HAD(TM) CCD (Charge Coupled Device) imager, 12X optical zoom lens and a large 2.5-inch LCD viewfinder.
The combination of an optical zoom lens and Sony's Smart Zoom(TM) feature enables consumers to fill the frame with the subject and intelligently use the full capacity of the CCD. The result is better pictures without the image degradation of digital zooms. And no matter how shaky their hands are, the Super Steady Shot(R) optical image stabilization feature fights image blur even during longer exposures at full zoom.
"We've responded to requests from enthusiasts for a high-zoom camera," said Akehiro Kaiya, General Manager, Digital Imaging Products, Consumer Audio Visual/Information Technology Group, Sony of Canada Ltd. "With the Cyber-shot DSC-H1 model, we have fully leveraged Sony's digital imaging expertise to offer a device worthy of the Cyber-shot brand."
Sony's Real Imaging Processor(TM) circuitry is incorporated in the model for better battery efficiency, more responsiveness and high quality movie taking, while seven preset scene modes allow quick selection of the best setting for specific shooting conditions.
The Cyber-shot DSC-H1 digital camera also includes a five-area, multi-point auto focus to help consumers concentrate on the subject without mistakenly focusing on the background.
For added convenience, the model has 32 megabytes (MB) of internal memory (30 MB of usable memory) and a Memory Stick(R) flash media slot. PictBridge(TM) compatibility enables prints in a flash when the camera is connected to an enabled printer. The Cyber-shot DSC-H1 digital camera will be available in June at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $699.
For truly professional shots, the Cyber-shot DSC-H1 digital camera is also compatible with optional telephoto or wide conversion lenses. The VCL-DH0758 model .7x wide angle conversion lens provides a wider field of view with virtually no color aberration or distortion. The VCL-DH1758 model 1.7x telephoto conversion lens offers greater magnification and a crystal-clear shot. Both lenses will be available by mid-June.
