Sony Electronics Receives 2005 Frost & Sullivan CEO Choice Award for Most Reliable Monitor Manufacturer4 October 2005
Frost & Sullivan recently presented its 2005 CEO Choice Award for Most Reliable Monitor Manufacturer in North America to Sony Electronics, Inc. The consumer electronics firm also received the Award for its ranking as Best Monitor Manufacturer Regarding Overall Quality. The recipient of this Award was identified by the results of the CEO Choice Personal Computing Survey conducted in early 2005, targeted at Chief Executive Officers and Presidents in North America. The aim of this survey was to assess their preferences, views, and opinions on a range of performance characteristics regarding personal computing. Sony, founded in 1946, has been in the forefront of providing innovative and reliable products in electronics, media, and information and communications technology. Its personal computer (PC) and associated hardware equipment for both home and business use utilize cutting-edge technology, and its monitors and projectors are highly sought after by end-users. While the overall sales of PC hardware units including desktops, notebooks, monitors, and printers are to increase by 4.5 percent in 2005, the sales for desktop units have been decreasing over the last few years. In addition, the average selling price for a desktop PC has declined by 8 percent over the past year. Nonetheless, PC monitor unit sales jumped 27.8 percent from the previous year, thanks to the popularity of liquid-crystal display (LCD) monitors and a cut of 13 percent in the average price. Printer sales were also strong and increased by 7 percent, helped by consumer interest in digital photography. "The favorable evaluations that Sony has received in the monitor and projector categories will support the company in furthering its acceptance and prominence within the business community," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Katerina Konstantinou. "It is in recognition of the company's commitment to commendable quality, innovation, and adaptable products that Frost & Sullivan presents Sony with the 2005 CEO Choice Award in the Most Reliable and Highest Overall Quality Monitor categories."
