Sony Ericsson and Rogers Wireless introduce the S710a Wireless Phone with Integrated Megapixel Camera6 May 2005
Rogers Wireless and Sony Ericsson today announced the availability of the award winning S710a, a new feature-packed, 1.3 megapixel camera phone. The tri-band (850/1800/1900 MHz) S710a operates exclusively in Canada on the Rogers Wireless GSM/GPRS/EDGE network, the largest integrated wireless voice and data network in Canada, providing users with global roaming capabilities in many countries around the world.(*) The S710a's unique "dual-front" design literally demonstrates its dual purpose. One front of the device serves as a digital camera with a photo light and mechanical lens cover allowing users to take print quality pictures and record video clips. The other front has the look, feel and functionality of a wireless phone, as well as a mini organizer, gaming, MP3 and messaging device. The Sony Ericsson S710a has a new, unique 180-degree swivel-open design that easily converts from mobile phone to digital camera. And, the camera interface of the S710a is similar to that included in popular and innovative Sony digital cameras, making it simple to use for capturing life's spontaneous moments. In addition to photos and video, this unique device with EDGE technology also provides fast access to messaging and content downloads such as Real Trax ring tunes and interactive 3D gaming. Additionally, MP3 music files can be easily transferred from a PC to the S710a. Disc2Phone software (available free at www.sonyericsson.com/support) makes it easy to transfer songs from your CD collection and load them on the Sony Memory Stick(TM) Duo, which is included with the device along with Sony Ericsson dual-stereo headset. "Rogers Wireless is excited to introduce the innovative Sony Ericsson S710a," said Raj Doshi, Vice President, Device and Product Management, Rogers Wireless. "This high-end, all-in-one device with a truly unique design and large screen is a must-have for consumers craving the ultimate mobile entertainment experience -- from capturing top quality images to enjoying digital tunes to mobile gaming in 3D." The unique design of the S710a allows consumers to easily capture life's moments spontaneously in high-quality resolution with its 1.3 megapixel digital camera, and 262K-color screen. The S710a has been recognized as one of the best camera devices commercially available today for picture quality and ease of use. Pictures from renowned photographer, Robert Clark's tour of Toronto utilizing the S710a are available at www.sonyericsson.com/imageamerica. The S710a camera features a built-in 8x digital zoom, plus a built-in camera light and night mode option to provide better picture quality in darker environments. Photos can easily be shared with Rogers Wireless Picture Messaging and uploaded to photo printing websites such as Sony's ImageStation(R), sent via Bluetooth(TM) to a compatible photo printer or PC, or transferred to PC using the Sony Memory Stick(TM) Multi-Slot USB Reader/Writer (included with S710a).
