Sony's newest Cyber-shot T-Series digital camera captures all the action in high style and high quality8 August 2005
Sony of Canada Ltd., Canada's leading supplier of electronic and computer products for consumers and business, today unveiled the new Cyber-shot(R) DSC-T5 digital camera, the "always with you, always ready" compact camera that easily slips into a pocket or handbag.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5 digital camera is ultra slim yet, with its 5-megapixel resolution capability, delivers high-quality photographs. Like other cameras in Sony's style-leading Cyber-shot T-Series family, this m odel combines Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar(R) optics with a 3X optical zoom lens, a 2.5" Clear Photo LCD (liquid crystal display) screen, 32 MB (megabytes) of internal memory for storage and easy transfer to an optional Memory Stick(R) media, and increased battery life compared to previous T-Series models -- up to 240 shots per charge. Sony's Real Imaging Processor power management system permits users to shoot full resolution images in seconds.
The Cyber-shot T5 digital camera has a vertical design and features a lightweight, aluminum body that is available in four colours -- red, champagne gold, silver and black -- with a sliding matte silver lens cover. At just 114 grams, the Cyber-shot T5 digital camera is about 10 percent lighter than its predecessor.
"This is the perfect 'next' camera for anyone who doesn't want to miss a moment, whether out on the town or at family gatherings," said Akehiro Kaiya, General Manager, Digital Imaging Products, Audio Visual/Information Technology (AV/IT) Group, Sony of Canada Ltd. "It's the most affordable model in our T-Series family and a great value, given its enhanced performance."
The Cyber-shot T-5 digital camera is easy to operate. Simply slide the lens cover down and the camera is ready to capture images in less than a second. Thanks to its folding-optical-path design, the lens never needs to extend forward from the camera body . The Cyber-shot T5 digital camera also comes equipped with Sony's anti- reflective Clear Photo LCD screen, which significantly reduces unwanted glare in brightly-lit environments and delivers vivid colour reproduction. The camera's large 2.5" viewfinder is optimized for easy viewing and sharing of images with friends. Ten pre-set picture-taking modes also make it easier to get the perfect shot, without having to make any adjustments. Select "Magnifying Glass" for macro shooting up to 1 cm. from an object or subject or "High Speed Shutter" to catch fast-moving action -- like a tennis match. The Cyber-shot T5 digital camera captures both still and video images. With an optional Memory Stick PRO Duo(TM) media card, shooting high-quality video is simple. MPEG-VX fine mode permits the recording of MPEG video with 640 X 480 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second, up to the capacity of a compatible media card. A 1 GB (gigabyte) Sony Memory Stick card can hold up to 12 minutes of VGA-quality 640 X 480 MPEG video and 384 5-megapixel JPEG Fine images.
The Cyber-shot T5 will be available in September at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $459.99. The camera comes supplied with a NP-FT1 InfoLithium battery, BC-CS3 battery charger, multi-connector cable, neck strap and software CD-ROM. Optional accessories include the SPK-THB sports pack, CSS-TNA Cyber-shot Station(TM) cradle and LCS-THC form-fitting leather case.
