Top Lenses Manufacturer Essilor Brings a Better Vision to Latin America Through AT&T16 November 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today that Essilor has awarded AT&T a three-year US$648,000 contract to provide enhanced network services over an Internet Protocol (IP) platform. The services, aimed at providing reliable data communications to the Essilor network, will interconnect the company locations, research facilities and distribution center operating in Brazil.
Essilor is a global leader in the corrective lenses market. In 2005, the company had revenues in excess of US$3 billion and almost 27,000 employees across four R&D centers, 215 prescription labs and 16 production plants. In 2005 alone, Essilor manufactured 195 million lenses, more than half a million lenses a day.
Using AT&T's services, Essilor will be able to speed up its response to the market and expedite its customer service by rapidly sharing product information, inventories, product ordering and prescription data.
