Toshiba Introduces Next Generation Network Camera Kit for Security Monitoring

24 January 2005

Toshiba today introduced an IP- addressable network camera kit that brings the latest video surveillance technologies to security-conscious homeowners and business managers while significantly helping to reduce the total cost of installation.

Delivering an impressive feature-set that includes PoE 802.3af Power over Ethernet, 2-way audio, an SD card slot, and built-in motion detection, the WB02-KIT3-8 Camera Kit is the new flagship of Toshiba's network camera line- up.

With an MSRP of $599 (U.S.) the kit includes the IK-WB02A camera, along with a 1/3-inch 3.0-8.0mm Al lens, a 24VAC 20VA plug-in transformer, and a 6- inch universal camera mount for indoor mounting applications.

One of the few network cameras available with PoE, the WB02-KIT3-8 requires only a single CAT 5 or above cable to deliver both communications and power, resulting in a major reduction in installation costs as it eliminates the need to install electrical wiring or power outlets. Besides cost efficiencies, PoE can assure continuous surveillance in a power outage by carrying battery backed up uninterrupted power via the LAN.

Another exciting benefit of the WB02-KIT3-8 is a built-in SD Card slot that makes the camera an all-in-one recording solution. The SD card records on-motion activity at the camera. After an incident, the user simply takes out the SD Card and plays it back on a computer to view captured video at one frame per second.

Capable of interfacing with both new and existing CCTV systems, the versatile IK-WB02A uses network video out to connect to recorders through RJ 45 connections, plus it is compatible with standard CCTV monitors and recorders thanks to its analog BNC output.

Other key features include an 50dB signal-to-noise ratio for optimum performance with DVRs; up to 30FPS at 320x240; 480TV line resolution; 1/3-inch CCD imaging sensor; low light performance down to 0.2 lux@F1.0 with day/night imaging; and a wide dynamic range of 2,500K to 10,000K.
