University of Mississippi Selects Mobius Solution to Achieve Breakthrough Information Sharing and Efficiency Across Multiple Departments

21 March 2006

Mobius Management Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MOBI), a leading provider of solutions for integrated content and records management, today announced that the University of Mississippi has implemented an imaging and archiving system, based on the Mobius ViewDirect(R) suite, that improves business processes in several areas, including graduate program admissions, financial aid, institutional research and academic discipline.

Scanned images of transcripts, financial aid forms, references, reports and other critical content are indexed for fast retrieval and stored in the Mobius ViewDirect repository, a highly scalable, robust solution that integrates documents, images and records in any format and from any source. ViewDirect integration with the SAP Campus Management application and Sigma ProSAM financial aid system links documents to related information on students, employees and suppliers, providing a seamless environment that facilitates improved productivity and responsiveness in many campus departments.

In graduate school admissions, for example, applicants complete a Web-based form that triggers a workflow process. Supplementary materials such as transcripts, references and financial aid forms that used to be copied and sent by interoffice mail to approximately 50 academic departments are now scanned, stored in the ViewDirect repository, and attached to the workflow via integration between ViewDirect and the SAP Campus Management application. "Graduate program coordinators in each department now have access to all documents with the click of a mouse for evaluation and admission decisions," said Dr. Maurice Eftink, associate provost and dean of the graduate school. "We have an end-to-end electronic process that enables sharing information around campus in new and important ways. We are providing better service to students and improving productivity within and across academic departments."

In the financial aid office, a student self-service system based on Sigma ProSam and ViewDirect enables better communication between students and financial aid officers. Students can apply for aid online, view their award information, and accept, decline or reduce their awards. All completed forms are stored in the ViewDirect repository for fast recall by financial aid officers who, when answering student calls, can pull up the documents and see exactly how a student responded to questions.

In planning a move to smaller quarters, the institutional research office found that it would no longer have enough room for the filing cabinets that held enrollment and other reports dating back to 1950. All the reports have been scanned, stored in the ViewDirect repository and are delivered via Windows to university employees and via the Web for documents available to the public.

"These applications are delivering compelling value to the university community," said Kathryn Gates, assistant vice chancellor for information technology, "and we've only just begun. We're working on implementations that will make faculty accreditation more efficient, help us with asset management and take the academic discipline process completely online.

"We chose ViewDirect as a strategic solution for our imaging and archiving needs because Mobius proved to us that it could provide the needed functionality and integrate seamlessly with our existing IT infrastructure, in particular, SAP Campus Management and Sigma ProSAM," Gates continued. "Also, the Mobius team was knowledgeable and responsive, working with us to deliver a solution that will continue to grow and add value for years to come."

"Ole Miss is a leader among universities in using technology for the benefit of students and employees," said James Maguire, industry solutions director at Mobius. "And ViewDirect, which is certified by SAP as "Powered by SAP Netweaver," leads in ensuring easy integration of archived documents with SAP business processes. We are particularly pleased to have been selected for this 'first-in-class' initiative and we're looking forward to working with the Ole Miss team as they identify new areas in which ViewDirect can add value."
