VIDAR Introduces Full-Featured, Affordable Digital Radiography Systems at 2006 ECR

9 March 2006

VIDAR Systems Corporation, a leader in medical imaging technology, today unveiled its new VIDAR(R) VISION(TM) Digital Radiography (DR) product line of full-featured, affordable DR systems designed for all radiography environments, including imaging centers, orthopedic practices, small to medium hospitals, private clinics, and outpatient areas of large hospitals. The systems are being presented March 3- 7 at the 2006 European Congress of Radiology Meeting & Exhibition in Vienna, Austria.

The VIDAR VISION systems provide a total solution for all digital radiographic examinations, featuring superior image quality, rapid image acquisition, improved productivity, and ease of use at a price comparable to less efficient computed radiography systems. The systems offer flexibility by performing the full range of general radiology and orthopedic diagnostic procedures. The VIDAR VISION 4000 -- featuring a 4K detector for higher- resolution imaging needs -- is designed for high-volume imaging centers, orthopedic practices, and hospitals, while the VIDAR VISION 2000, with a 2K detector, is ideal for lower volume office-based use.

According to Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen, vice president of VIDAR's DR Business, the VIDAR VISION DR systems exemplify the company's pledge to provide affordable, state-of-the-art imaging solutions. "The introduction of the VIDAR VISION product line is an important milestone in the evolution of low- cost, high-quality, and reliable digital x-ray," Smitt-Jeppesen said. "Increased PACS installations have created demand for fast, convenient, and precise digital x-ray systems, but high cost has been a barrier. Now with VIDAR's entry into the affordable DR market, facilities can acquire high- quality DR capabilities at about the same price they would pay for less productive computed radiography technology. We are committed to offering a broad DR product line designed to suit every imaging application and to providing the highest value and service to our customers."

Like all VIDAR products, the VIDAR VISION systems offer exceptional image quality, reliability, and economical system cost. Digital radiography systems help to improve operational efficiencies and productivity by eliminating costs and staff time associated with film and film processing for conventional x-ray machines and handling cassettes for CR systems. Other benefits include better image quality, greater patient satisfaction due to shorter exams and improved patient flow, and enhanced revenue through increased numbers of exams per room. Unlike CR systems that take 2-5 minutes per image to display, VIDAR VISION systems display images in 10 seconds or less, resulting in faster visualization and streamlined treatment for improved patient care.

The VIDAR VISION systems also feature the highest quality DR x-ray capabilities (3.8 lp/mm), superior diagnostic information (65,536K shades of gray), and a full-featured software package with intuitive user interface.

VIDAR Systems Corporation, headquartered in Herndon, Va., is a leader in medical imaging and the number one provider of medical film digitizers worldwide, with more than 12,000 units installed. VIDAR's extensive experience in the field of medical imaging technology and unmatched reputation for quality and customer service allowed it to transform the field of film digitization. Now, the company has focused its considerable expertise on creating the new standard in affordable digital radiography -- the VIDAR VISION DR system.
